Ross,  you're supposed  to  use the  AFD FOR  userid  DEL command,  which
accepts your password (since you're the one sending the command). The FOR
command is nothing but a trick to  tell LISTSERV "Okay, just do as if you
got that  command from that guy".  LISTSERV does just that,  and asks the
guy to supply his password.
 
I  agree on  everything you  have  said, it  just cannot  be done  easily
without a major restructuring of LISTSERV.
