For what it is worth, I ran Waffle for two years and had no problems
handling either mail or news over 30K.  I would guess any you came
across are likely incorrect installations.  Which essentially
reinforces your point that it is the gatewayer's problem to have a
correctly functioning system, and not the poster's problem.
