I have a problem with bouncemail resulting from some of the postings sent by
one or another of the lists I "own". In many cases mail from the listserv will
bounce with a "No such user" or "Host unknown" message, yet I can send normal
E-mail to the intended recipient without difficulty. The list uses
Mail-Via=Distribute.
My usual "knee jerk" reaction when I get a load of bounce messages back from a
user/site is to unsub the offending ID from the list. Unfortunately, sometimes
this inadvertantly blows away a good subscriber. I don't much like throwing
people off my list(s) who shouldn't receive such treatment.
What to do?
Is there a better setting for the Mail-Via option? I have used some special
routing in the past, but that hasn't resolved this particular problem.
Please send a copy of any responses to me directly, as I never have a lot of
time to read this list.
Thanks in advance.
Sez me,
W. K. (Bill) Gorman
