Along with Paul and Valdis's recommendations - make sure that list
doesn't have a bunch of people with SHORT822 and FULL822 for their
header option.  That will cause a separate queue entry for each
one and a separate sendmail process to go along with it.
 
Absolutely positively guaranteed to bring your system to its knees!
