Grace,
A built in test for listserv is to send a message to the listserv@____ address again but this time only put 'thank you' in the body. If all is well then you should receive a 'you're welcome' reply.
Do you have a support contract with LSOFT? If so I would recommend leveraging them.

Subject: Need Help
Hi. Although Ihave used LISTSERV before, I am a total novice for setting up LISTSERV. I have run the ListSERV exe file and got the installation to work to the point that LISTSERV has shown the start up messages in the DOS command box. However, I sent a test email to [log in to unmask] and I don’t know how to check that it is working. I did not receive any email to my account although I am the postmaster. Also, I don’t know how to start the web interface. I entered http://ed0000400004394.kets.ketsds.net/LISTSERV/wa.exe and it said that the webpage not found. Please help.
