I very much  doubt they care. I  don't think one needs  the experience of
LISTSERV to realize  the obvious benefits of local  variables, as opposed
to "everything but this  is local", or the ability to  pass stems so that
one can write a  common sort routine without having to  embed it in every
single program and modify it to use the right stem name.
