I just sent it a command and it didn't dump core (at least I got an
answer from it, so I'm assuming it didn't dump core).  I would imagine
there is something wrong with the list file itself.

What does a traceback of the core file say?  (See
http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/lsv-faq.stm#1.3 if you are not sure how
to get a traceback from a core dump.  DON'T send the core file itself!)
