I am list owner of the WORLDWIDEWORDS list, currently with some 33000
subscribers. I've placed forms on my website to ease joining and leaving
the list and changing e-mail addresses. On updating the code for these
recently, I have been reminded of a problem that I reported to the List
Owners' Forum in March but which was never resolved.

If somebody sends a request by e-mail to change their subscribed address,
the usual confirmation response comes back with a link. If the person
clicks on the link, the response on the LISTSERV web page is of the form

  OK [cookie]
  Confirming:
CHANGE WORLDWIDEWORDS [log in to unmask]
A confirmation request is being mailed to your new address
  ([log in to unmask]).... [etc]

Note the two addresses are the same (the new address) and the two parts of
the message conflict. The first part is incorrect, since the change hasn't
been made. A loop results unless the subscriber uses e-mail confirmation
instead.

Has anybody else encountered this? Is it a bug? A configuration error on
the local LISTSERV? Or am I doing something wrong?
