The problem is that without special mail-merge support on the MTA end,
Listserv has to do the work itself.  So for a "normal" posting to 70K users,
Listserv can send *one* message body and 70K 'RCPT TO:' commands.  However,
if each user has their own From:, that's 70K unique message bodies, each of
which has to be sent individually.

So that's 69,999 more things that Listserv has to hand to the MTA, and
that's 69,999 more things in your Sendmail spool.

Trust me - that is a performance issue.

The obvious alternative is to figure out *why* it is required that each
user gets a different From: line, and see if you can work around that.
What problem are you trying to solve by customizing the From: line?
