I just discovered that the 8/2/88 PEERS NAMES table has UCHCECVM
listed as a Backbone LISTSERV. UCHCECVM is adjacent to UMDD BUT it
is in Chile! Furthermore, the comments in their entry say that the
link is not scheduled to be up for at least 12 hours a day.

On our INFO-APP list this affected U of Maryland, CUA, and NIH.

I changed our PEERS NAMES file to make UCHCECVM :backbone.NO
and I did TELL LISTSERV CMS LSVPRSUM (just to be safe I also did a
STOP REBOOT because the LSVPRSUM just gives a return code 0 - I get
spoiled by all the nice messages LISTSERV usually puts out when it
rebuilds stuff). Now the routing seems ok. I hope one of the coordinators
can fix this because I know it is affecting many folks in the Maryland
area (their nearest server was at PSUVM).

I would like to mention that one of the very nice features of DIST2 is
that it is VERY easy to get a map of the route mail-via DIST will take.

For example, if you just XEDIT the file shown below, GET the list
you want to check into the file after the //TO DD *, then SENDFILE
that to LISTSERV, LISTSERV will mail you a map of where the output
would go! Not only what the final distribution LISTSERVs are but what
paths are followed for each final distribution point! (Excerpt from
the "bad" list follows). The Debug=yes option prevents mail from
actually going out.

It might be nice to have an option such as Mail-via= DIST2,Trace or
Trace=yes in the headers which would list this in the log for
"problem" lists. But it is so easy to check it this way that probably
isn't necessary. (I am not very knowledgeable on DISTRIBUTE jobs, but
the following seems to do what I want).
