Well, if all the machines went haywire and started sending *lots* of error messages, they would want to know right away. Right now errors are sent to the owner, but (obviously) that could change.

Right now the alerts do not show up at all, but then again, the controllers are not subscribed, the list is private and so on. I can add the controllers to the list (nomail) or the list can be made public. They do not care about duplicates (though they might if it were a mail loop).

The first step is to talk to the group in question, and figure out what
business case is driving the request. Most likely, they don't actually
care if bounces go to the list - they just see it as one way to solve their
problem. And you'll have to understand taht problem before you'll be
able to provide them with an actual good solution.

(The last time I went through this, it turned out that the requestor was simply
unaware of the use of Errors-To: to send the bounces to someplace where a
procmail rule could be used to do listwashing. and needed to do more database
cleanup on a bounce than just auto-unsub. Once we understood that, we stuck in
an Errors-To, they now auto-clean their databases that are used to repopulate
their lists on a regular basis, and I haven't heard from that user since).
