I was asked to solve this problem.  I have never used these
commands.  He subscribes to our index and is trying to retrieve a
post to read.  Help?

Here's what I sent to Listserv... :

Here's what I got back:
 
> Select * in MADNESS.1267
--> Database MADNESS, 1 hit.
 
> Print <1267>
 
Document part <1267> is undefined for database MADNESS.
 
I got the number 1267 from MADNESS Index - 4 Dec 1994 to 5 Dec 1994.  The
Select command likes it, put the Print command doesn't.
