Well.. yes. Listserv does a good job of automating most of this. However,
some sites process literally 100,000 pieces of Listserv mail a *day* (Since
midnight, our Listserv has processed at least 2,346 pieces of mail, going
to 34,323 recipientns - and it's only 2PM).
Now, if 1% of 100,000 pieces of E-mail bounce, that's still 1,000 pieces of
bounce. And even if Listserv then automates 95% of the remaining filtering,
that's still 50 pieces that gets sent to Postmaster or similar.
And of course, there's no way for Listserv to automate adding a person to
a closed list - by definition this sort of thing takes human intervention.
