Thanks for the reply. I've tried the suggested filter but it still doesn't work. 

Subject:: xyz:*  did not work

Other filters such as:

Subject: xyz  which I understand coverts xyz to *xyz* works but not the desired action. 

I would like to match on the begging of the subject line starting with xyz:

How do I do that?

Try

Subject:: xyz:*

and see if that does the trick.
