I have some problems with virus-checking running listserv 14.3 and lsmtp.
After having moved to 14.3 I thought in my humble opinion, that now my
largest problems are solved, but ...
1. Not everyone on the backbone is running anti-virus checking, which
means, that listserv 14.3 is still distributing virii (and I'm
still on the various blacklists).
Is this 'working as designed' and if yes, what is the solution to
this problem (getting off the backbone ?) ?
2. I have 2 systems running LSMTP (being a MX-site for each other).
System -a- running listserv with 2000 lists and www-access.
System -b- running listserv without lists (but being MX for
system -a-) and distributing outgoing distributes
for system -a-.
Mails (mostly spam and virii) arrive on system -b- with final
destination system -a-. Now system -b- cannot know about a non-
existing address on system -a- and accepts the mail and forwards
it to system -a- (strange is, that system -a- is accepting these
mails (without giving a 550 : no such user).
Now system -a- bounces the mail to (in most cases) innocent people
sometimes the mails even contains a virus.
Do you have any idea for a solution (I know, there are mailers which
can do some kind of 'call forwarding' calling the final address for
validation of an address before accepting it).
regards
