IMHO, weekly/monthly messages to your list are counterproductive unless
they contain significant information pertinent to the list discussions.
(Can you say "unopened junk mail"?).
 
I have had very good luck simply sending the author a fixed file such as
(I have a few for each of a few special occurrences) ...
