Some  comments I  have received  prompted me  to write  a program  showing the
distribution of the LISTSERV servers across the world. I have already said and
I hereby repeat  that one cannot hope to understand  my position regarding the
LISTSERV debates without knowing and accepting the fact that EARN is less than
one-fourth of the  servers, and that even big EARN  countries like Germany and
France are only (respectively) 5% and 2%  of the total (actually that would be
1% for  France without the FRECP11  server, which does not  participate in any
kind of  networking activity -  its sole purpose in  life is to  generate 3812
cover pages). The enclosed table summarizes the present situation.

LISTSERV servers that are presently operational and officially registered
(in PEERS NAMES) are called "Production servers". These are servers which
are actually  used. Servers which are  still being installed, and  may or
may not be  operational, are called "Pending servers". A  large number of
pending  servers  means   either  that  there  are  a   lot  of  LISTSERV
installations in  progress in  the country,  or that there  are a  lot of
people who forgot to send back their registration form.
