LISTSERV Lite automatically registers itself (and receives automatic
updates).  If you've got an unlimited (not graduated) LISTSERV Classic
license, then you should really either run in STANDALONE mode (set in the
RUNMODE variable of your site configuration file) or run NETWORKED and
register your server with L-Soft to receive automatic updates.  If in
doubt, check section 5.6 of the Site Manager's manual
(http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8d/sitemgr/sitemgr.html#5.6) and/or
contact L-Soft support.  They should be able to tell you whether or not
you ought to register.
