I am using the UNIX version of listserv and have NOT
been able to make files available to any of the lists
we have on our machine. The only thing I have been able
to do is to put the files in the notebook directory and
tell the owner to advertise anonymnous ftp to get the shared
files.

If anyone can help us we would be ever so gratefull.

example:

root@postoffice /var/apps/listserv/home 713# ls -al site*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 listserv listserv 3524 Aug 8 12:36 site.catalog

root@postoffice /var/apps/listserv/home 714# more site.catalog
* test file
test.file test-l.file./var/apps/listserv/files all owner(test-l)

When asking for a file the user is told that they do not have
permission to get them.

root@postoffice /var/apps/listserv/files 717# ls -al
total 2062
drwxr-xr-x 2 listserv listserv 512 Jul 2 22:01 .
drwxr-xr-x 5 listserv listserv 1536 Jul 28 23:00 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 listserv listserv 126 Jul 2 22:01 test-l.file

any suggestions as to what to try?
