Hi all, again. I have a couple questions which have been bothering me for
some time now. First, it seems that for one of our lists, some digests
sometimes are being truncated, for some people. For example, here's an
example of a digest from this week which was truncated.

...
 38. A simple Windows dialler... (3)
 39. Publisher problem
 40. Windows Disk Cataloger

I don't really think that you want to write an ODBC driver. This is
definite reinvention of the wheel. Presuming that the local side does not
have major DBMS requirements, you can use the Excel ODBC or the WinWord.
Either will let you pass SQL queries to your host application, both are
fairly easy to use. If your needs are computational, you would be better
served by Excel obviously. If formatted output is what you want, WinWord
is the ticket. If you need strong database on the client side, use Access
or Foxpro for Windows. Access if quick and dirty is what you want. Fox if
you need the speed. You can use passthrough which will send your query to
the host without modification if the host does not speak SQL. I have not
done this myself but it is supposed to work. If using WinWord, pick up
the Development Kit, a ~$30 book with disk which provides a front-end for
ODBC in WordBasic.

Getting your ODBC to work should be relatively trivial in any of these.
Building the full front end for the user (if there is to be one) will
take most of your time.

and that's it. Although I've never seen this (and all my digests look fine)
people have said that when they are truncated, it seems to happen on
quoted text, as it seems to be above. Checking the logs, the next line is
a blank, and the following line starts with a '>'. Has anyone seen this before
or know what might be causing this?

Secondly, I have a list with the keyword

* Prime= "MON-FRI: 08:00-15:00;SAT-SUN: -"

and the LOCAL SYSVARS prime variable is the default 9:00-17:00. However, this
list seems to ignore this PRIME value, and use the system one instead. I
also tried coding * Prime= Yes in addition to the above line, but the list
still goes out after 5PM. Any idears? Thanks.
