 I sent your answer to the list-editor who originally complained about
 the From: field, and this is his reply:
 
 
    I'll refrain from arguing with your point of view, but my
    complaint still stands: I can't figure out how to simply
    remove some of the junk mail from the list without people
    thinking the mail came from me.  I'd like the "approved" mail
    to be distributed exactly as if the list were not edited.  It
    is clear that besides changing LISTSERV's default way of
    doing things, new options could be introduced.  It really
    boils down to three questions: "which way is the best way to
    do it most of the time?", "how important are the
    alternatives?", and "do you want to further complicate
    LISTSERV with these alternatives?".  As a list owner, I want
    lots of control over the outgoing headers.
