This note is  being sent to all the  EARN people who have requested  a copy of
LISTSERV  to me,  to the  LSTSRV-L list,  with a  copy to  Frode Greisen  (the
President of EARN).  A number of people  have asked me for  information on the
progress of  the contract with  EARN; I am sending  the reply to  everybody so
that I don't have to make individual answers.
 
Frode has received the contract I mailed him on the 10th of March. Since then,
the  EARN  Executive   has  been  examining  and  discussing  it.   It  is  my
understanding that no agreement has been  reached so far within the Executive,
but it is expected  to further discuss the issue during  the next Exec meeting
in about 1 week.  Once the Executive has come to an  agreement, they will make
their position known  to me (I expect  them to want to negotiate  the terms of
the  contract). I  have agreed  with Frode  that the  contract should  be kept
confidential until it is signed, so as to avoid seeing "false" copies floating
around the network in case we decide to make a change.
 
I will inform you whenever significant  progress is made, however I would like
to make it clear that what I just  said is 100% of what I know. In particular,
I have NO IDEA what the Executive  is discussing, how long the debate is going
to last, what are the plans of EARN, etc (I am absolutely happy with that lack
of knowledge, as I  am afraid that I might get upset if  I knew :-) ). Please,
if you want to  know what is going on and why the  contract has still not been
signed, ask your BoD member, not me.
