I'd check that DNS (domain name server) is correctly configured on the
machine, it sounds like you're seeing timeouts followed by a retry to
a different server which then returns the correct answer.
On a much slower machine (133mz 604e, 256M, AIX 4.3) it usually gets
10-recipient posts out the door in under 4 seconds (assuming the destination
hosts are accepting mail, of course ;) so there's obviously something
hosed up.
The other possible off-the-top-of-my-head thing to check is whether
the posting is being held by the anti-spam quarantine when it comes from
a non-list-subscriber address, but I think by default that's 10 minutes,
not the 2-3 you're reporting.
