A possible explanation: It appears BSU is using a PIX.  Possibly this
particular digest ran afoul of the dreaded MailGuard, although I admit
it doesn't exhibit the same behavior I'd expect (lying and claiming that
"EHLO" is "XXXX" command not valid or whatever).  See:
