Since I never back anything definitive on this, I decided to modify the
dates on the VERS9703 node inside the file and see if that made the
message go away.  It did.  I used a PIPE to do this (didn't want to
risk an editor mucking up the format), which changed both :connect. and
:lastup., so I can't say for sure which did the trick -- but I'd bet on
:connect.
