The STOP command will be issued if the go* script is run again while LISTSERV
is running (by a cron job or somesuch event),  unless you have modified the
default go* script.   Before blaming the program I would look closely for such
external influences.  The fact is, somehow a properly authoritative source
'told' LISTSERV to stop and it did so.  This cannot be considered a fault of
LISTSERV.
