I am looking for a host site for a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) e-mail
group list.
The proposed name would be DBTlist.
 
What is DBT:
DBT is a new approach to treatment to those meeting the criteria of
Borderline
Personality Disorder (BPD).  It is set up to address the needs OF both those
with BPD and
the therapist treating them.  This helps the therapist avoid " burn out" in
the therapeutic
setting.  A dialectical philosophy is use to maintain balance.  The clients
learn skills that
help them to maintain gain a higher quality of life.  The BPD clients are
given advice and
support both in and out of session to maintain behavioral goal of decreasing
parasucidal
behavior.
 
The general topic of this e-mail group would be 2 fold.  The first, to
encourage the use of
skills among clients in involved with DBT.  Second, to create discussion in a
learning environment for those interested in learning DBT and understanding
its dialectical aspects.  So this list would encourage both patients involved
in DBT, therapist, professionals in mental health, family members and/or
students interested in learning DBT.  It is estimated that in the beginning
we would have about 20 subscribers with any were from 10 to 20 post a day.  I
anticipate that this would grow steadily.
