   MRGATE is now it the "restricted list" along with MAILER, POSTMASTER,
ROOT, UUCP, POSTMAST, MMDF, MAIL, POSTMSTR, and a string containing
"DAEMON".  Mail "From" this address will not be accepted.  (V1.7D).
 
   I'm not sure if MRGATE is really a userid.  I've seen it mostly used
as a "tributary" as it is here.  In fact, of our 33,970 entry SIGNUP2
file I have five entries with MRGATE in them.  Four are from
           [log in to unmask]
as is the above error.  The other is some sort of DECNetish address
from FIRNVX.FIRN.EDU.
 
   I've included the postmaster for MCIMAIL.COM in this reply.  Maybe
he or she can suggest a way for the Corning_Incorporated folks to
avoid this problem in the future or argue that MRGATE will NEVER
generate error messages.  (Actually, I'm pretty sure Eric would not
have added MRGATE without someone getting burned by that origin).
