Marc,
   That problem can be cured by a mod to CP that closes all open spool
files during shutdown processing. Steve Roberts, late of Georgia Tech,
posted it to VMSHARE recently. If you're interested and aren't a VMSHARE
member (although all VM systems people ought to be) , I'll be glad to
pull it for you.
