I've had this problem before and it has to do with LISTSERV's registration or
"signup" file.  In each case it was a problem with the way the owner was
adding people to their list.  To fix this have this person, from their own
userid (or the postmaster or NAD can do this for them), send the following
command to your LISTSERV:
 
register off
 
Then if they like they can send (in the same note on the next line if
desired) the command:
 
register <their-full-name>
 
  e.g., register Greg Kroll
