Pete,

I tried the suggested "Q" using my name, (I am now listed as editor, owner 
and moderator as well, but not a subscriber)
 and listserv resoponded by say "you are not a subscriber to 
Tussocknews-l"

It did NOT tell me i was Editor, owner or Moderator  ??

Q ussocknews-l FOR userid@node

IF EDITOR shows up, that is probably the problem.  Needless to say, having 
a complete message with all RECEIVED headers would help immensely since 
what was said and what actually occurred may be telling e.g., in the 
insert of an Approved-by: header.
