Hello,

In looking through my Listserv log files yesterday, I noticed that I was getting a message of "Too many recipients" in the SMTP log. Here is an example:

06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 >RCPT TO:<[log in to unmask]> 06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 <250 2.1.5 Recipient OK
06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 >RCPT TO:<[log in to unmask]> 06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 <250 2.1.5 Recipient OK
06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 >RCPT TO:<[log in to unmask]> 06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 <250 2.1.5 Recipient OK
06 Jan 2010 23:59:54 >RCPT TO:<[log in to unmask]> 06 Jan 2010 23:59:59 <452 4.5.3 Too many recipients
06 Jan 2010 23:59:59 -> RCPT TO:<[log in to unmask]>
06 Jan 2010 23:59:59 452 4.5.3 Too many recipients

This has just started happening on my mailing lists with larger memberships.

I've never had this problem show up in the Logs before. What does this message mean?

I began getting his message when I change the SMTP_Forward setting to a new SMTP server. Emails are going out but apparently not from the larger lists. Anyone have any ideas what this message means, what causes it, and how is it connected to an SMTP server.

Our Listserv server is on a Windows Server 2003 machine and Listserv is v15.5.

Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

Brett Watts
