Many of the *NIX tools are available for Windows at
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/

Most of the text tools are in the CorUtils package
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/coreutils.htm

grep is the best tool for searching large collections of text such as log
files or ListServ .LIST files.
