Appendix B, Renewal= with Probe option. Read all about it.

1.8d adds "Passive Probe" option to the Auto-Delete= keyword as a means to
check/verify email a random portion of the list's email addresses, during the
course of regular mailings, i.e. unlike the 'Active Probe' message associated
with Renewal above. Over a period of time (determined by the setting) the
entire list will be checked.

Assuming you already have the WWW interface installed for 1.8c the upgrade time
on NT is about 5 minutes. It's usually a little longer on unix not because it's
any harder, but because every unix person seems to like to exercise their own
creativity, especially with regard to directory paths, etc and it takes a few
minutes to figure out what they did 2 years ago when they installed 1.8c so they
can redo. If you have never installed the WWW interface plan on several hours
at least to get that tweaked. Otherwise a 1/2 hour is usually sufficient. It
is not necessary to install the WWW interface at the same time if you don't
want.

We do strongly recommend that you first obtain and install your 1.8d LAK, onto
your exisiting 1.8c installation and restart LISTSERV and verify that was done
successfully. 1.8d requires a 1.8d LAK now and you don't want to be plagued by
LAK troubles on the startup after the update. This is the most common error.
