Use two lists: the current user-list "X" which is then
the only subscriber to owner's private list "Y" where
"Y" is setup to do DIGEST-only distributions.  It won't
matter what subscriber's do to their subscription on
list "X"
 
Depending on moderation requirements, etc., it isn't
clear if users will e-mail Y or X.
