The "privacy" problem of 1.6a DISTRIBUTEd lists running with SET listname
CONCEAL has been solved as described below; the fix will be available in 1.6b.
Any user subscribed to a list operating with "Mail-via= DISTRIBUTE" (or DIST1
or DIST2) having done a "SET listname CONCEAL" command to conceal his identity
from the other members of the list is going to have his subscription changed
as per a "SET listname SHORTBSMTP" command, unless he had requested full
RFC822 headers via the "SET listname FULLHDR" option; in that case, his
subscription will be modified as per a "SET listname FULLBSMTP" command. In
both cases, the user will get the level of header detail that he had
requested, but his name will not appear anywhere on the header. If the list is
subsequently changed back to non-DISTRIBUTEd mode, the headers will revert to
the non-BSMTP type, unless of course BSMTP headers have been explicitly
requested.
In other words, SHORTHDR is treated as SHORTBSMTP and FULLHDR as FULLBSMTP if
CONCEAL is in effect and Mail-via= DISTRIBUTE, without the actual contents of
the user subscription entry being changed. The QUERY command will display the
option that is actually used (ie xxxBSMTP if concealed), and the SET command
will display a warning if the user tries to explicitly alter his subscription
to a type of header that is not supported for concealed users.
People who are not happy with this solution should send a flame to their own
reader, after having made sure to remove any occurence of their name or userid
from the header so as not to disclose their identity.
