For  files,  the procedure  you  mentioned  is  correct. But  you're  not
supposed to be able  to delete a list with a PUT  command. This is mostly
to avoid losing a  list due to human or mailer  errors. Another reason is
that  just removing  the LIST  file  isn't enough,  you will  want to  do
something about the  archives, filelist, etc. So you'd use  CMS ERASE for
the LIST file.
