Sorry to follow up my own post, but a query has been raised by several
users.

It appears that listserv converts all domain names to uppercase when mailing
to people, to speed up it's sorting routines I think it said. We have had
several complaints and i would like to know if anybody out there knows of a
way to turn this functionality off.

Cheers
Duncan

Subject: Listserv oddities

Hello all,

This is probably a query which should have gone direct to LSoft support, but
I thought I'd air it here out of potential interest to other users.

We have recently imported several lists from another organisation, one of
the lists was called owner-talk.

Initially I did not suspect a problem with this list, but it rapidly came to
light that mails to the list were falling into a black hole, no response, no
error returned, not logged anywhere.

I guessed finally that the machine was actually looking for the owner of the
list talk which did not exist.

What I wanted to ask was why there was no error report generated, when
someone mailed to owner-talk why did they not receive an error saying that
the list talk did not exist, or that no owner of that list could be found ?

We have subsequently renamed the list owners-talk and it works fine, but
the strange behaviour was slightly worrying, since we did not know there was
a problem at first.

Thanks for any pointers
Duncan Russell
