How about using the SUBJECTHEADER option so that the list name
is put automatically on the subject line. I.e. you send a subject of
"Clean: Wacky Lyrics" (Yes, the topic needs to go first). It gets
distributed to those that have SUBJ set as "[SMILE-LIST]Clean: Wacky
Lyrics".

By default it uses the name of the list, but you can change the
text it uses by setting the Subject-Tag= keyword in the header.
You would probably want to set Default-Options= to include
SUBJ. And you can set all current subscribers by sending
QUIET SET SMILE-LIST SUBJ FOR *@*
to the LISTSERV address.

Note: this is new to version 1.8c.
