I'm forwarding my RELUSR-L posting below as a way of asking a few
listserv questions:
1. How do I go about peering a list?
2. What can I do about the thousands of XMAILER console entries
generated by this list. e.g. I set msg off so as not to get
"FROM" messages from every node on BITNET.
3. Is there any interest in peering such a problematic list?
Thanks.

A few summary points on relusr-l:
1. usage.
Statistics gathered since Tuesday, December the 2nd of 1986 (493 days)
      mailings=98  files=14401  recs*100=4,332 total users=226
99% of this is from this week.
2. Problems.
Since this is not a peered list,we are seeing a great increase in
load in specific areas. (RSCS acks, console spooling, etc.)
If this list continues to grow in number of files and users we
will need to reconsider our method of hosting this list.
    1. Edited.
I don't have the time.I also prefer an open forum.
    2. Peered.
       Who wants it.
    3. Kill it.
3. Submissions to list.
I'd like to set some guidelines, not rules.
   1. Brevity is the soul of wit.
   2. Personal attacks should be carried out in person.
   3. Complaints are ok but solutions are better.
4. Other topics.
   1. Other conferencing machines being used.
   2. Methods of interactive messaging on non-RSCS backbones.
   3. Performance enhancements; for example,
multiplexing of RSCS messages into message packets or
      into small file transfers.
   4. User surveys: who,what,where,why, etc.
Thanks.
