Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but...

I see ALL this debate about what RFC822 should and shouldn't do with
backslashes and unbalanced parens and all the rest.. But....

I was told (a long time ago, it may have changed) that the Croswell Mailer
is an RFC733-based mailer. If so, it doesn't matter *what* RFC822 says about
it, if it isn't valid RFC733 as well, it will get punted or worse.

Striving for RFC822 compatibility is nice. However, most days I'm convinced
that the only way RFC822 will fly is to SHOOT all the non-domain UUCP sites
with their silly left-associative '!' and SHOOT all the RFC733 mailers.

You think silly backslashes are trouble, try deciphering an address of the
form [log in to unmask] This is the REAL problem. And yes,
there are several ways to interpret it. And they are not equivalent.
