AIX Sendmail & Listsrv

We have set up a new installation of Listserv that seems to be working
fine. Except with
IBM's sendmail.
While sendmail is working ok, we have had to stop the relay because of
spammers. Now any
mail generated through Listserv does not get forwarded.
Has anyone seen this or know of a possible workaround?
