Along with the message "standard", how about just making auto-generated
mail origin names begin with an asterisk.  In other words, if I had a
mail answering machine, it would generate:
 
        From:   *Jeff Kell <JEFF@UTCVM>
 
Seems straightforward enough.  Now just wait ump-teen years for someone
to implement it.
