Some of you running IBM's TCP/IP for VM (maybe MVS too - I'm not sure)
may find mail looping today.  ACS.SAULTC.ON.CA is resolving to an MX
handler with the address 255.255.255.255.  This gets short-circuited in
SMTP and the mail is "sent to itself".  The only solution I've found is to
get onto SMTP and either remove the ADDRBLOK/NOTE or change the address to
something else.
 
   If you are logging SMTP it is pretty easy to find this - just check the
incoming SMTP LOG for a send/receipt pair that keeps repeating.  The mail NOTE
also tends to grow within SMTP with a new Received line every iteration.
I suppose while loop checking is avoided the max size might eventually
stop it but we have ours set quite high so I usually notice when SMTP
CPU use is higher than normal.
 
   I decided to send this to both LISTSERV and SMTP lists because we removed
several subscribers from *@ACS.SAULTC.ON.CA as well as notifying the contacts
there of the problem.  Will this be fixed in a future release of SMTP or
does anyone know of a fix now?  The only IBMLink hit I got on SMTP and
255.255.255.255 was Charles Hedrick's Intro paper in the Q/A section.
