Ok.  Let me try to better explain why I submitted the question.  I'm not
attempting to change subscribers' comments.

Every week I send out a Table of Contents (TOC) to about 84,000 folks on an
announcement list.  I send it to the list via a BLAT program so that I still
get to confirm it, but instead of saying that it comes from me, it says that
it comes from the actual name of the publication.  Some weeks the marketing
department wants to put in an extra announcement at the top of the TOC, and
if they forget to put it in, they think I can add it after I receive the
email asking me to confirm it.  This cannot be done with LISTSERV I found
out.  Instead they have to resubmit the TOC with the additional text to the
BLAT and it comes out just as they planned.

So, no underhanded, deviousness going on here!  Just a functional issue.
