May I suggest still two other netwide commands? They are
SUSPEND * (NETWIDE
RESUME * (NETWIDE
The purpose of the first would be to stop any list traffic to you until
you issue the second. One could use them to temporarily stop receiving
mail from mailing lists while on vacation or out of town for several
days. Receiving 50 to 80 mail items a day, I can't afford leaving for
hollidays and let mail pour in every day.
What I'm currently doing is to issue a SIGNOFF * (NETWIDE before I
leave, and, when I return, editing all the confirmation notices from
all LISTSERVs around the world and make a LISTSERV job out of them,
which contains SUBSCRIBE commands to all the lists I was subscribed to
before. It's rather boring. And of course it doesn't set the options to
what they were before (some lists I'm subscribed to don't have NOACK as
a default for example).
The two commands mentioned above would nicely solve that problem.
Sincerely
Rainer
