Even DISK had this problem in the early days of CMS6 (I remember having
to resend part of LISTSERV in Netdata format to a SP6 site). IBM will
just fix any application which exhibits that behaviour, and then say the
problem doesn't exist any more. Since it never was a supported interface
(in fact it breaks for other reasons - see the SFS fix), they won't take
a compatibility APAR. It's sad, because this interface is extremely
useful - useful enough for so many people to have gone to the pain of
reading source code and experimenting to find out how it works exactly.
