You know... I miss a '.' a few more times, I may have to admit I'm getting
old enough to need reading glasses...

(And no, the leading '.' on the domain is definitely bogus - rfc2821, section 4.1.2 has:

      Domain = (sub-domain 1*("." sub-domain)) / address-literal
      sub-domain = Let-dig [Ldh-str]

So there's no legal way to get a leading '.'
