restart the service after making the change?

If you don't Export the value or restart, LISTSERV won't pick up the new
value.

I added the following to go.user

RUNMODE="STANDALONE"
export RUNMODE

saved it and stop/started listserv server 

that was last week, but the spamming alerts still keep coming ?

Is there something wrong with my interpretation of the commands ??
(I am new to this role, (and unix !) )
