Hi,

i writing to seek assistance in starting a mailing list.

the list will be focused on senegal and the gambia, and as such is aimed at
nationals of these two countries, or people interested in developments in that
area.

the primary objective of the list is to foster the exchange of ideas, and
opinions in current affairs, development, and related issues in the two
countries. in addition, it is anticipated that that list would serve as a
convenient clearing house for the dissemination of information and news of
interested to members. thirdly, persons wishing to initiate links with
others in the subregion, or wanting information on issues particular to the
subregion could find the list useful. finally, to the extent that new
friends can be made on the list, it is hoped that it would contribute to
greater understanding not only between and within senegalese and gambians, but
also member of the list.

the anticipated size of the list is about 75 or so people. this number is
at best a very rough guess, as i am still in the process of notifying people.
i have already started contacting other gambians and senegalese on
computer networks in the u.s., and the response so far has been encouraging.

traffic anticipated on the list should of the order of 5 mail pieces a day,
at least for starters. however, given the enthusiasm that has been expressed
by the people i've contacted so far, this estimate could be on the low side.

i would be interested in working with anybody willing to volunteer to host
the mailing list in setting it up, and getting things off the ground. also, i
would be more than happy to supply any more information that the prospective
host might want. this information could pertain either to the list, or to
myself.

thank you very much in advance for your consideration. i do look foward to
hearing from you.
